LUNE rider Matt Cronshaw (Science-in-Sport - Trek) was pipped on the line in last weekend's road race for Elite, 1st, 2nd & 3rd cat riders over 45 miles on the Lindale course.
An early break stayed away, gaining nearly two minutes on the splintering bunch. Cronshaw was riding in the colours of his first-claim sponsored club Science-in-Sport/Trekand was actively mixing it with the likes of Mark Lovatt Sportscover/ Planet X) and Mark Turnbull (Leigh Premier RC), even achieving a tiny gap after the last climb. But at the finish Lovatt went round him with 15 metres to go to claim the win in a race that averaged more than 27 mph.
The Border City Wheelers SpoCo 25' on the A7 north of Carlisle was won by Jon Sturman (Derwentside CC) in 58-15. Lynn Hamel of the Kent Valley Road Club was first lady in eighth place with an outstanding 1-03-08.
Last week, Kent Valley's Callum Nicholson was fastest junior in a wind ravaged Circuit of Ingleborough time trial from Ingleton and followed that up with two victories in his first ever venture on the track at a meeting in the Manchester Velodrome.
