NEW striker Peter Wright bagged a vital goal on his debut and made the other as Kendal Town regained the winning thread with a 2-1 win at home to Ashton United on Tuesday evening.
After Wright struck superbly to finish off a brilliantly worked goal in the 15th minute, Ashton equalised nine minutes later through Steve Garvey.
However, Kendal's fine all-round committed display on a rainswept night was rewarded when Scott Redhead put Kendal 2-1 up after 33 minutes with another clinical finish.
Lee Ashcroft's side defended their lead resolutely in the second half to win what was a vital six-pointer as they strive for mid-table safety and now go to Ossett Town at the weekend.
Next home match: versus Burscough on Saturday, February 24.
