LEE ASHCROFT, the Kendal Town boss, confirmed his capture of Mossley striker Peter Wright and said he would go straight into the side for Tuesday evening's home match with Ashton United (7.45pm).
Wright, the one-time Newcastle United player who has had spells at Halifax, Burscough and Southport among other clubs, is a proven goalscorer, said Ashcroft.
"He's someone I've always wanted to bring to the club and will be a big asset to us.
"Peter can hold the ball up a bit like me and finishes well.
"He's a bit of a character, too, and a great sort of lad to have around and with Gareth (Arnison), Fozzie (Dave Foster) and myself it adds to our options in a strong attacking line-up."
The visit of Ashton - lying just a place above Town - to the Planet Conservatories Stadium is seen as a "six-pointer" by both clubs in their bid to move further away from the danger zone at the foot of table.
