TUESDAY evening's home match against Ashton United has been dubbed "a cup final" for the Unibond League Premier Division clubs by Kendal Town boss Lee Ashcroft, writes Richard Daniels.
Kendal's 2-1 defeat at promotion-seeking Guiseley last Saturday means the side has gone seven matches without a league win - although four of those matches have been drawn.
Cup competitions mean Town are without a fixture this Saturday and with Ashton lying immediately above fifth-from-bottom Town, it is not surprising that Ashcroft is viewing the midweek fixture as a key one.
Ashcroft was back in the starting line-up at Guiseley for the first time since taking over as manager and scored Kendal's goal, but he has made a move to sign Mossley striker Peter Wright.
Iain Swan (back), Peter Ferris (calf) and Paul Byrne (suspended) are all sidelined for the Ashton match which kicks off at 7.45pm.
