MOTORCYCLING: Privateer racer Alan Chamley (pictured above) is aiming to be on the start line at the Centenary Isle of Man TT in June on a newly-bought 2006 model Suzuki GSXR 1000.
Alan, 39, who works at Kannegiesser UK (formerly Ducker Engineering) will be competing in the Superbike and Superstock classes at the TT in June and also the Southern 100 meeting on the island in July, as well as other selected meetings during the year. He is seeking backers to help him fund the racing season.
After recording third and fourth places in the Manx Grand Prix, Alan moved up to the TT in 1998 and gained a sixth place and three other top-20 finishes, taking three bronze replicas with a fastest lap of 103.33mph and a race average of 101.15mph in 2004.
For the past two years he has raced in the Superbike and Superstock classes, finishing 55th and 45th respectively with a fastest lap of 115.16mph.
He had the use of a Honda CBR600 for the Junior 600 TT, in which he averaged 109.05mph and a fastest lap of 110.97mph. He was 24th and 21st in the Southern 100, 12th and 14th in the Jurby South and also third in class at the Barbon Hill Climb.
