ASKAM United moved to the top of Division Two in one of the few West Lancashire Football League games to survive the weather.
A brace apiece from Callum Raynor and Kevin Edwards was enough for the Furness side to secure a 4-2 victory at home to Croston Sports, with James Liversedge and Sam Stone scoring for the visitors.
United move one point ahead of Hurst Green, with Whinney Hill and Bolton County a further two points off the pace and out of the promotion spots.
Gsk Ulverston Rangers drew first blood in their home tie against Leyland United.
Carl Brown was the man with the goal as Rangers capitalised on some sloppy defending by Leyland, who showed signs of rustiness having not played since they knocked Kendal County out of the the West Lancashire Football League Challenge Cup on penalties on November 17.
Matthews was shown a red card for Leyland after a push on the keeper but Leyland equlised when Woods fed Ryan Broomhead, who scored 10 minutes before half time.
A bad-tempered second half saw both teams have chances but no further goals were scored, and honours were even between the sides.
Milnthorpe Corinthians remain rooted to the bottom of the table after they were comfortably beaten 5-0 at home to CMB, with goals coming from Andy Lane, Ben Monks, a Craig McGinley brace and Will Archer.
The result means Corinthians remain three points off safety.
