THERE is to be a celebration, next year, of the life of the world-famous educationalist, Charlotte Mason, to be sponsored by the University of Cumbria and the Armitt Museum.
Scale How, in the University’s Ambleside campus, and the seat of Miss Mason’s House of Education, is in a sorry state of disrepair, looking forlorn and neglected. A note, stuck in a window, says it is used for police dogs.
The University is embarking upon a large-scale building programme at its Carlisle campus, but seemingly neglects buildings in its care in Ambleside. Hill Top is another example.
Scale How is a listed building and deserves better treatment, and certainly before our international visitors arrive next year.
