There were chips, peas and a portion of cash for CancerCare at a special event to celebrate National Fish and Chip Day, in Kendal.
Craig Chaplow of Northwest Event Catering marked the annual occasion with an afternoon of fundraising fun from his fish and chip van, situated outside Rinkfield post office every Friday.
Mr Chaplow raised £400 thanks to an afternoon of entertainment featuring music from local DJ Craig Howarth, complementary drinks and a raffle with prizes from a range of local businesses.
The businessman chose to support CancerCare as his mum Christine received support from the charity, which provides free professional counselling and complementary therapy, before she sadly passed away in 2012.
“We wanted to do something special to mark the day and have a bit of fun while doing it,” said Mr Chaplow.
“There was a great atmosphere all day with customers asking for requests and even having a bit of a dance while waiting!
“My mum was always made very welcome at CancerCare so it was great to be able to support such a valuable charity.”
