AN application to build a holiday resort in the Yorkshire Dales National Park has been withdrawn after receiving dozens of objections from locals.

The proposal, submitted by Koto Design on behalf of Nook and Key Escapes, was to build seven 'high-end', non-permanent accommodation units with parking on land north of Rigg End Farm, near Newbiggin-on-Lune.

Nook and Key Escapes operates a number of holiday resorts in the UK, and offers a 'hands-off' approach, with remote contact with no live-in management.

One objection stated: "The access track is totally unsuitable for the amount of increase in traffic it would have to take. 

"There is also a strong argument for protecting and enhancing the special local landscape we have here, not for siting obtrusive holiday structures which are mass-produced and not in keeping with the predominantly limestone buildings in this landscape."

The application was not officially refused, but withdrawn, according to a letter dated January 27, 2023.
