Casterton School is celebrating another year of fantastic A Level results with three-quarters of students having been accepted by their first-choice of university.

They include Jennifer Caisley, who gained two A* and two A grades and secured a highly-sought-after choral scholarship at the University of Cambridge to study French and German.

‘I am delighted and relieved; it’s been a long wait!" she siad. "I’m looking forward to going to university but will miss Casterton School. The support of the teachers and the other girls has been incredible.’

Rosemary Caisley, Jennifer’s mother, is extremely proud. "Before coming to Casterton School, Jennifer was a shy, retiring girl and I knew she’d flounder in a large school. I chose Casterton for its small class sizes and welcoming family atmosphere; Jennifer has flourished!"

The majority of destination universities chosen by Casterton School’s students are those which rank in the British top 30 of the 2013 Complete University Guide. This includes nine girls having secured first-choice places at one of the UK’s top 10 universities.

Students are also studying a diverse range of degrees including Medicine, Accounting & Finance, Music, Geography, Languages, Veterinary Sciences and Biomedical Science.

Lucie Galloway has chosen to study overseas at Maastricht University in the Netherlands. "I am so glad I got good grades," saidLucie. "I can’t thank my parents and the staff at Casterton enough for this opportunity.

"I will miss the cosiness of the school, but I’m ready for a new adventure."

Lucie will study International Business and is thinking about a career in banking or ship-brokering.

Her father, Bernard, said: "I am so pleased for Lucie. I am sure the school has had a great deal to do with the confidence that she now has. She has taken the School’s ethos under her wing and got involved in plenty of activities.

"She was the member of several committees, mentored younger pupils and persevered with her sporting goals. She has been on many overseas school trips, which I think has really helped her in this next big step."

Headmistress Maxine Lucas said: ‘I am absolutely thrilled yet again by our students’ A Level achievements.

"The girls have worked with tremendous focus, but importantly, have had fun too. We offer a well-rounded education at Casterton.

"Our girls balance the rigour and commitment of their academic life by enjoying themselves on the sports field, taking part in musical and drama performances and supporting community and charitable causes.

"Despite reports of a national decline in A grades this year, I am delighted that so many of our girls have excelled again and are taking up their first-choice university places."
