STAFF and students at a Barrow-in-Furness school which had been threatened with closure because of falling pupil numbers are celebrating their ‘very pleasing A-Level results’.
Chetwynde School achieved a 100 per cent pass rate across all subjects with 90 per cent at A* to C grade and 36 per cent of all results either A* or As.
Head teacher Russell Collier said: “I am really pleased with what is another set of excellent A-Level results this year.
“These results highlight the fact that the students have still performed to a high standard, even with all the distractions of the last six months.
“They are testament to the hard work and dedication of both students and staff and the wonderful support received from parents.
“We pride ourselves on ensuring that each student reaches their maximum potential and that they are fully prepared for the next step in their education or chosen career.
“On behalf of all the staff I would like to congratulate each and every one of the students on their achievements this year and wish them every success for the future.”
Among the star performers were students Ashton Coward, Rebecca McClelland and Emily Watts, who all achieved at least thee A grades.
