A SOUTH Lakes cinema will mark its 75th anniversary on Thursday by showing the same film that the cinema opened with back in 1937.
The Roxy Cinema, Ulverston, is hosting a special screening of Rose Marie, starring Jeanette MacDonald and Nelson Eddy, at 8pm, with a supporting programme of vintage shorts including newsreel and old advertisements beforehand.
And with a VIP reception taking place with jazz music before the film, owner Charles Morris wants to ensure it is a celebration to remember.
He said: “There will also be a display on the cinema's history, featuring many old posters and photographs, a souvenir booklet describing cinema's history and we also have the grown up grandchildren of the original owning family present on the night.”
Profits from the event will go to St Mary’s Hospice, in Ulverston.
