After the fine weather recently, residents of Waterside at Kendal woke on Tuesday to a damp, grey day.
However, they turned out to celebrate with a substantial buffet, entertainment for the children with a bouncy castle, sumo wrestlers (home grown) and a splendid show by a talented puppeteer.
The rain held off until just before the close of the party and newcomers to the estate mingled with those who have lived there since it was built.
Organisers hailed it as 'a great effort'.
