Months of party planning paid off today as a Kendal street was adorned with delicious food and Jubilee-inspired colours.
Brockbeck residents, who started organising the event in February, said they were having an ‘absolutely brilliant’ time.
The road was closed off, the music playing, and a trailer converted into a huge table fit for the sausage rolls, cupcakes and sandwiches.
Audrey Humpreys, who played a significant part in the preparations, said: “It has been an absolutely brilliant day. We’ve had so much food and all the kids have really, really enjoyed themselves.
“The whole community have pulled together and I could not have wished for a better party.”
And fellow arranger, Claire Wyatt, added: “We’ve had the lunch and races and I think we will have a BBQ later to carry on the celebrations.
“There has been a really good community spirit – we’ve got some of the older people out of their houses to come and join in. And it will also be something for the children to remember.”
