CARNFORTH High School’s sports field was packed out with revellers to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee today.
Events around the main arena kicked off with the crowning of the Jubilee Queen and the official opening by the Mayor of Carnforth, Coun Carolyn Higginson, and stand-up comic Lester Crabtree.
The Carnforth comedian is a tireless fund-raiser for the Breast Cancer Campaign and money raised at the event was donated to the charity.
Other attractions included a dog show and birds of prey display, as well as an archery competition and flower show.
Coun Higginson said: “There used to be an annual event here so it is great to celebrate the Jubilee in this way. Lots of people have helped to bring it together, including the town council and Rotary club. Local businesses have also supported us through sponsorship.
“Elsewhere in the town we’ve had best decorated house and shop window competitions, so there has been lots going on. It is great to see so many people here enjoying themselves.”
The fun continues this evening with a big band show from 7pm to 10pm.
