JUBILEE jousting was on offer at a South Lakeland historic monument today.
National Trust-owned Sizergh Castle arranged activities for its younger visitors to mark the Diamond Jubilee, including sword-making, face-painting and royal quizzes.
Families posed for photographs with a cut-out of Her Majesty in her younger days, while children went head-to-head in jousting duels.
Events and volunteer co-ordinator at Sizergh Castle, Julie Miller, said: “The whole nation is celebrating and for us it’s good for our visitors and families to come and celebrate here in the beautiful grounds of Sizergh.
“The National Trust is doing a summer of celebration with a lot of events over the summer period."
Donna Clarke, who was visiting for the day with her family, shared with the Gazette memories of celebrating the Silver Jubilee in 1977.
"I can remember it very well, I celebrated with a street party in Kendal.
"The Diamond Jubilee is something I will never see again, and my kids probably won't."
