THE Windermere community came together for a ‘Right Royal’ sing-song at their Jubilee street party.
More than one hundred residents turned out to enjoy the scones and jelly and ice-cream and sung along to the accordion player at the Marchesi Centre.
Many of those attending reminisced about the Queen’s coronation and her Silver and Golden Jubilees.
David Hill, 78, celebrated the Queen’s accession in Chatham, Kent. He said: “At least it’s not raining today like it was on the day of the coronation.
“I remember the day well though, and I also celebrated the Silver Jubilee in 1977.”
Peter Lever, who had helped organise the Windermere celebrations, also remembered past Royal events.
He said: “I am pleased with how many people are here today – we will all have some food and do some singing and will have a toast to the Queen. Everyone seems to be having a good time.
“I remember the coronation and watching it on the television at my aunt’s house, and I also remember the solemn music on the wireless all day when the King died.
“I do believe in the monarchy and she’s a good Queen, so I think it’s important to celebrate.”
