SUCCESS stories burgeoned out of Kirkbie Kendal school as delighted pupils found out their GCSE results.
Spectacular results were achieved by several students, including nine A*s and one A from Emily Brown.
“I’m shocked,” Emily said.
“I was predicted about the same so I’m very relieved.”
She is studying English, Maths and Statistics at the school’s Sixth Form in September, and hopes to go on to complete a history degree at university.
The exams proved particularly stressful for Lauren Munro-Bennett, who was running for England in Slovenia at the same time as studying for her GCSEs.
As well as revising for the crucial exams, she was training for three mornings and three nights a week.
But the hard work and training paid off as she came away with four A*s, four As and a B.
“I’m really happy! It was tough because I had to keep up with my training as well as revise for my exams,” Lauren said.
She will study Biology, PE, Psychology and Philosophy and Ethics in the Sixth Form and plans to study Sports Pyschology at University.
Lily Jones was also not treated to an orthodox preparation.
She was in hospital overcoming an illness, but managed to come away with 10 GCSEs at grade A to C despite having to miss some of her exams.
“It was awful - I couldn’t get out of bed,” said Lily.
“But I’m over that now, and I’m really happy with my results.”
She is looking forward to studying Law, Philosophy and Ethics and Business Studies in the Sixth Form.
Headteacher Phil Hyman said: “I’m very pleased for the students. They’ve worked very hard and I would like to thank the staff and parents that have supported them.
“I’m looking forward to large numbers of them joining us in the Sixth Form.
"There are lots of happy faces around which is great to see.”
