STUDENTS involved in a 14 year fund-raising mission for a Lancashire charity have received a badge of honour for their efforts.
Queen Elizabeth School at Kirkby Lonsdale has raised more than £27,000 since 1998 for A Breath for Life – a charity providing oxygen treatment for people with chronic health conditions.
Jane Dean, charity founder, said: “It’s great to see students supporting the charity. They can truly be proud of what they have achieved and we are very grateful. The QES team has supported us more than any other fund-raiser and have stood by us since their first donation.”
The charity team under teacher Carole Falcus was presented with a special plaque at the charity’s treatment centre by Ms Dean and Dave Holehouse, the hyperbaric oxygen centre manager.
Ms Falcus said she was delighted pupils had managed to raise so much through band nights, sports events, fashion and talent shows over the years.
The unit needs around £40,000 a year to stay open and QES teacher Teresa Waddington, from Bolton-le-Sands, whose son Andrew suffered a severe brain injury during a minor operation at the age of three, said the centre had definitely helped to save her son.
