A MUSICAL extravaganza hit the Crampton Hall at Windermere School when students staged a production of Sweet Charity.
Year 11 drama student Madeleine Sidi played lead character, Charity Hope, who longs for a young man to romance her away from her life as a dancer in 1960s New York.
The production was billed as a departure from the school’s previous productions and head teacher Ian Lavender said: “The performances were remarkably, polished and students filled their roles with great dignity and professionalism.”
Madeleine, who lives at Clappersgate, near Ambleside, said: “The rehearsals were hard work for everyone.
“We have learned so much, not just about the musical but about ourselves too.”
Students were led by Les Williams, head of drama, along with the musical direction of Janet McCallum-Hartley, head of music.
Marsden Building society sponsored the production.
