BUSINESS savvy students are enjoying the sweet taste of success after home-made fudge scooped two top prizes in a Christmas enterprise competition Student team Occasions, from Queen Katherine School in Kendal, won the prizes for best presented stall and highest turnover at a festive trade fair at the town’s Westmorland Shopping Centre.
Their award-winning product was made especially for pupils by a local fudge company and was packaged and marketed to help them learn more about the world of business.
Student Louisa Marshal, the managing director of Occasions, said: “This was a great learning experience.
“We all worked hard and it’s great to have been so successful. We are now looking forward to the next stage in the competition.”
Seven school teams entered the Fair Trade themed fair and the money raised by Occasions accounted for £500 of the total £1,500 turnover on the day.
Head teacher Stephen Wilkinson said: “I was really impressed by the efforts of all the Young Enterprise teams when I visited the stalls.”
