A 64-YEAR-OLD man was airlifted to the Royal Preston Hospital with serious injuries yesterday after a quad bike accident near Newby Bridge.
The man, who is local, was a passenger on the vehicle, which was towing a trailer, when it was involved in a collision at around 3.40pm on the road between Newby Bridge and Bowland Bridge.
The rider of the quad bike - a 31-year-old local man - was uninjured in the accident.
No other vehicles were involved.
Cumbria Police said the road was closed for a number of hours to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.
