KENDAL schoolchildren are going to the movies — in the name of education.
National Schools Film Week — between October 17 and 20 — gives pupils a free cinema trip and is designed to link with what they learn in the classroom.
Kirkbie Kendal has taken part before when A-level students watched the film version of a set text they had studied in school.
Teacher Jenny Eaden said: “The multi-cultural aspects of the film are useful points for discussion and hopefully improve understanding of different faiths and experiences.”
St Thomas’s CE is also taking part and Nicola Wright, from the school, said: “Film education provides great resources we can use in the classroom aimed towards creative writing.”
