FACING business experts in a ‘Dragon’s Den’ style competition, Year Sevens from schools throughout South Lakeland battled it out with their ideas for a new board game.
Dallam School in Milnthorpe hosted the competition that saw students pitching their board game ideas to a panel of judges.
Year Seven team Smarty Pants, from Dallam School, stormed to victory over Cash Stash - a team from Queen Katherine School in Kendal.
This is the third year of the competition, set up by the schools’ English departments, and is designed to encourage entrepreneuralism and presentation skills.
The winning team was the creation of pupils Lydia Baker, Beth Morgan and Rachel Pearson and the ‘dragons’ were judges Phillipa Chapman, a business adviser, Roger Jackson of the Financial Management Bureau, Gary Marshall, a Director of Operations at Lakeland Limited and county councillor Ian Stewart.
