SOME “stunning” individual GCSE performances were being celebrated by staff and Year 11 students at Sedbergh’s Settlebeck School.
Every single student achieved at least one qualification, the majority gaining eight to10 high grade GCSEs.
Among the high achievers were Shannon Mellish with five 5A*, a Distinction, four As and one C, Shannon Mellish with five 5A*, a Distinction, four As and one C; Amelia Hunter with three A*, two Distinctions, four As and one B; Rebecca Barnes with two A*, a Distinction, five As and three Bs and Thomas Knevitt with one A*, a Distinction, five As, three Bs and one C.
In addition the school had Year 10s taking GCSEs for the first time this year with a number of A*’s being achieved.
The successful pupils were Alexandra Colton with A*s in Maths, Biology and Chemistry; Imogen Clark with A*s in Chemistry and Drama; Rowan Hall with A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Physics and English Literature; Rebekah Hendrickse with an A* in Additional Science and Nick Inman and Leah Murray who gained A*’s in Chemistry.
Headteacher Dr Judith Greene said: “Without doubt excellent achievements of our students are due to the commitment of our staff, the quality of their teaching and our excellent curriculum which is supported by additional curriculum opportunities provided by the South Lakes Federation of Schools, as well as the support they receive from their families.”
