PUPILS at Dallam School, Milnthorpe, were jumping for joy after gaining the highest GCSE grades ever recorded there.
Headteacher Steve Holdup said he was proud of the students as he watched them collect their exam results this morning.
Five students shared 50 A*s and As between them.
"They are all very excited. We have a fantastic set of results - the best ever in the history of the school.
"It has been a very good year group with a very good spirit. They have worked hard and the teachers have been great."
Thomas Thompson, of Grange, gained six A stars and four As.
"I'm pleased. I was happy with my A in English as that subject is usually my downfall. I was probably most pleased with the A* in History.
"My family were really pleased for me. We're going to celebrate with a family meal.
"I'm planning to study Maths, Physics, History and Chemistry at A level."
Fellow pupil Abi Cooper, of Arnside, was overjoyed to get nine A*s, one A and one B.
"I did as well as I could have hoped for," she said.
Hayley Buchan, of Hest Bank, said she was very happy with the four A*s, five As and one B she gained.
