IMPROVED results were achieved at Kirkby Stephen Grammar School with Year 11 pupils exceeding GCSE targets. Head teacher David Keetley said the school had recorded its highest ever pass rates. “Our students have really done very well and achieved our highest ever pass rate for 5 A*-C grades, and for five A*-C grades including English and Maths,” said Mr Keetley. ”We have also exceeded our targets, which is very encouraging.” “I want to pay tribute to all the students and their teachers for their hard work in achieving such improved results.” Head of Upper School, Janette McWhirter, praised all the students for their achievements and paid particular tribute to some outstanding individual performances, including Richard Hunter, Grace Hurst, Abbie Pepper, Mischa Purnell and John White. It is anticipated that many students will now stay on in the KSGS sixth form for AS/A Level courses as a result of their GCSE success.
