IT was a record year for GCSE A* grades at Giggleswick School. Seventeen per cent of entries were graded A* and A*/A grades equalled the 2007 record at 46%. The A*-C pass rate was 90%. Girls outshone the boys overall with 55% of entries graded A* or A. Among them were local girls Emily Bolger with nine A*s and one A, Hannah Renwick four A*s and seven As and Katie Harrison with six A*s and three As. Twenty two per cent of pupils achieved at least eight A*/A grades. “This was a special set of results for Giggleswick with all the pupils achieving at or above their potential, and setting a school record for A* grades,” said headteacher Geoffrey Boult. “We congratulate them on their hard work and varied achievements and we look forward to seeing the majority back to start A levels next week, along with nearly 30 others joining our Sixth Form.”
