THE Storth and District Gardening Association held its annual show of flowers, vegetables, fruit and handicrafts on Sunday.

Show secretary Ken Johnson said that the number of displays dropped back to a more average level after last year’s record number of exhibitors.

He said that this was inevitable because of the “totally unsuitable” growing weather and that gardeners also had their potential exhibits ravaged by rabbits and deer.

“What one can confidently state is that the standards were as high as ever, perhaps even higher in the handicrafts section,” said Mr Johnson. “Of particular note was the number of people who came to the show – the village hall was packed to capacity at times, with everyone very much enjoying it.”

Profits from the show will go to local charities.
