SETTLE triplets Will, Evie and Charlie Hirst celebrated 14 A* & A grade results between them when they received their A Level results.

The trio will now go their separate ways as Will undertakes a gap year before commencing a Medicine degree, Evie starts her Medicine course at Exeter University and Charlie takes up his place to read Material Science at Trinity College, Oxford.

Charlie Hirst said, “All the hard work has paid off – Emma Watson (the Harry Potter star who is also going to Oxford) watch out!”

College students also entered the AQA Baccalaureate for the first time, with 50% of students gaining the prestigious A* grade in their Extended Project.

The overall A* to E pass rate of 99.5% was well above the national average of 97.8%, while 49% of students gained A*, A or B at A-Level and Distinction * or Distinction at BTEC.

College Principal William Bancroft, congratulated all the students on their achievements: “We are extremely proud of these results which are a just reward for the students’ hard work over the last two years.

"They demonstrate very clearly that students in the comprehensive system can achieve as highly as any others and fulfil their ambitions, whether those are at the most prestigious universities, within the vocational field or in employment.

"We are also delighted with the results of our Year 12s, where the pass rate of 93% was well above national averages and a very significant improvement for the College.”

Settle College is embarking on an exciting collaborative Sixth Form Consortium from September which will significantly increase the number of A-Level and BTEC courses available to students.

This will be supported by the £2.5 million redevelopment of the College buildings which is currently taking place.

Included in the developments will be a new suite of Science labs and a state of the art Library with Sixth Form study area.

Enrolment for the Sixth Form will take place on Friday, August 26, 2011.
