A FEAST of athletic endeavour was enjoyed by hundreds of spectators who lined the marked out running track which is the focal point for the annual Beetham Sports.
The crowds were treated to some exciting races from eager youngsters keen to impress their parents to older competitors taking a much more serious approach to proceedings.
Broughton’s Gordon Eland was presented with the William Batty Memorial Trophy for gaining most points in the senior track events.
He was third in the 90 metres, second in the 200 metres, first in the 800 metres and third in the 1,600 metres.
The five mile fell race (927ft of climb) attracted a record field of 104 runners and was won by Kendal’s Craig Roberts (35-49) ahead of Helm Hill’s Mark Addison (35-59) and Howgill’s Carl Bell (36-38).
The first lady was Mairead Rocke who was 15th overall in 42-57 with Helm Hill’s Mel Hyder (43-55) in second.
