CLAPHAM Primary School is celebrating a double success after being judged ‘outstanding’ by two education watchdogs.
The small rural school leapt two grades when graded outstanding by Ofsted and the same award was made by the Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools (SIAS) board.
Ofsted inspector Kathleen McArthur, who visited the school, said: “Senior leaders have inspired the community with a strong vision for the school's future and staff morale is very high.”
She said pupils were extre-mely well cared for and their happiness shone through in their considerate attitudes and high attendance.
An SIAS inspector, who visited the school a week later, praised head teacher Brian Beresford for creating a strong Christian character at the school.
Mr Beresford said he was honoured to teach ‘wonderful children who sparkle with friendliness’ and who are keen to learn.
“The school community is incredibly hard working and dedicated, and it is great news that every person connected with the school has been rewarded for the considerable efforts they make every day on behalf of the children,” he said.
The 39-pupil school has also received the go ahead to build a new extension to replace its temporary Key Stage 2 classroom.
