THE family of Jack Ellison have paid tribute to a “much loved son”, who was tragically killed in a road traffic collision.
The 19-year-old, from Dent, was tragically killed in the accident which occurred on the A634 just outside Sedbergh in the early hours of yesterday morning.
A statement from the family said: “Jack was very well known in the Dale, he loved living in Dent and was planning a future that kept him close to his family and friends.
“Since leaving school he has established a very successful business supplying local folk and businesses with firewood as well as working closely with his Dad and brother in the family business.
“Jack leaves behind a devastated family and is a great loss to the community where he was admired and respected by young and old alike. He was maturing into a true Dalesman.”
Jack was a passenger in a silver Nissan Navara when the vehicle overturned at just after 2:50am.
Mr Ellison died of his injuries at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 21-year-old male from Dent, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and driving whilst under the influence of alcohol.
He was bailed until 11 August.
An investigation into the cause of the collision is being led by South Cumbria’s Roads Policing Unit.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, is urged to contact Kendal Road Policing Unit on 0845 33 00 247.
