THE Duke of York visited Giggleswick School to mark the centenary of the establishment of a Combined Cadet Force (CCF) contingent.
The visit was organised by Maj Darren Richmond, commander of the Giggleswick’s force, which consists of Royal Marines, Army and RAF sections.
As Colonel in Chief of the Yorkshire Regiment, to which the contingent is affiliated, Prince Andrew inspected a parade of junior cadets from all three sections and awarded trophies to senior cadets Henry Fell (Royal Marines); George Vyvyan (Army) and Chris Ewbank (RAF).
He was accompanied by Brigadier John Wardle , Deputy Lieutenant of North Yorkshire.
The Prince was introduced to members of staff and senior pupils as well as staff and pupils from Giggleswick Junior and Primary Schools – and stopped to watch a clay pigeon shooting session.
