TWO South Lakeland school pupils who dream of making it in showbusiness are making waves in the industry with their backstage exclusives and up-to-the-minute gossip from the world of television.
Lucy Moses, 16, and James Farrow, 18, sixth formers at Ulverston Victoria High School launched their new online project ‘The TV Diaries’ this month, and have already attracted more than 450 fans on their Facebook page – with new members joining up daily.
They regularly take up front-row seats at filming for prime-time entertainment shows such as The X Factor and Take Me Out, and get all the hot gossip from filming, which they then post on their blog.
Lucy, who is studying English language, media studies and ICT, said: “James and I enjoy being in the audience for TV shows, and because we get front-row seats, we get to talk to the camera crew and production staff.
“We have found out how it all works, so we wanted to share this with people and keep them up to date with what is going on behind the scenes.”
The pair, who are the lead roles in the school’s forthcoming production of Cabaret, from February 15 to 17, recently reported to their Facebook fans from the set of Channel 4’s live celebrity daredevil show Famous And Fearless, hosted by Chris Evans.
Their latest assignment on Saturday saw them watch Britain’s Got Talent auditions in Liverpool and they interviewed dancer Adrian McNally, whose audition received a standing ovation and impressed judges David ‘Knight Rider’ Hasselhoff, comedian Michael McIntyre and actress Amanda Holden.
During filming of hit ITV1 show Take Me Out, they interviewed this year’s twin contestants Sam and Cat Wilkinson, and are now building up a great contacts base.
James, who is studying drama, sociology and English language, said: “Somehow contestants have found us and messaged us asking to be on our website. We are quite amazed by the response. Everybody seems dead keen to talk to us. It has really taken off for us.”
Lucy added: “It’s just us two running it independently and we really enjoy doing it. I have always been interested in TV and we would both like to work behind the scenes.
“James would like to be a presenter and I would like to do something like musical theatre. Everybody starts off small and hopefully it will grow from this.”
