ANOTHER large, non-native black cat sighting has been made in a South Lakeland village, prompting a local resident to fear for his safety.
Bank manager and walking enthusiast Graham Boyes was driving to his office in Barrow at around 7.15am yesterday (Thursday, August 10) when he noticed the creature walking in a field at the end of Popplemire Lane, Old Hutton.
"It was completely black and it had a long tail, which first alerted me to it, and I would say that it was about desk height and about one-and-a-half metres in length," he said.
Meanwhile, Jean McGovern, who lives in Kendal, claims to have spotted the mysterious black cat as she made her way home with her 13-year-old daughter last month.
"I saw a large, black animal about the size of a Labrador dog but it definitely had a feline face and a very thick black tail," said Mrs McGovern.
"It was quite shocking to see it so close to houses and gardens," she added.
There have been several sightings in recent weeks of a large black cat in the Castle Green Lane area of Kendal.
