Traffic officers are currently at the scene of a serious road traffic collision near to the Craven Arms on the A65 at Giggleswick.
It involved two vehicles, a people carrier and a 4 x 4 type vehicle.
Five people have been injured. The full extent of the injuries is not yet known. However, it is known that one woman has received serious injuries and is being treated by paramedics.
The A65 has been closed 100m north of the Craven Arms and at the junction of B6480. Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to contact traffic sergeant Paul Cording of the force’s Roads Policing Group on 0845 60 60 24 7.
Police are also advising drivers to avoid the area and to use alternative routes as the road will be closed for some time.
