THE ILLUSTRATOR of the world-famous children’s fairytale character The Gruffalo has created four exclusive ‘squirrel scribbles’.
The drawings by Axel Scheffler will be auctioned off as part of the Wildlife Trust’s Save our Squirrels (SoS) project. Bidding began on Friday, December 3, and finishes on Monday.
There are two A4 and two A1 sized 'scribbles', each signed by the artist and specially framed for the event.
“We’re thrilled that Axel is supporting red squirrels,” said Save our Squirrel’s Sally Orritt. “These cartoons are lots of fun and we hope the auction will help more people realise the real danger our remaining red squirrels are in."
During the campaign, SOS will be asking everyone if they can ‘scribble a squirrel’ for charity. Anyone who likes to scribble, draw, paint, or sculpt will be able to send their squirrel art for display on the charity's website.
