A FOOD company boss is helping customers beat the winter freeze by delivering orders on his skis.
David Redmayne, director of Kendal-based Beelocal.co.uk, has vowed to do all he can to help dozens of ice-bound villagers and tourists in corners of the Lake District.
And the 25-year-old said he was prepared to deliver orders by ski and sledge wherever his company’s vans and 4x4s couldn’t venture because of the conditions.
The company, which collects local produce from shops and delivers it across the Lakes, Furness and Dales, has been inundated with orders during the cold snap.
Mr Redmayne, from Kirkby Lonsdale, said: “Last year Beelocal.co.uk drivers went above and beyond the call of duty on our rounds during the snow and ice and it is the same this year.
"We have been flat out in the last week as the weather gets worse.
“Many elderly people don’t want to venture out for fear of slipping or getting stuck in their cars, and in some cases their children or carers can’t get to them in their cars so they turned to us.”
