HIGH street discount chain TK Maxx is to open a new store on Stricklandgate, Kendal, in the spring, employing up to 40 people.
The 1,300 sq metre shop in the former Clark’s store will stock designer fashion, shoes and accessories for men and women plus homeware and children’s toys – all at up to 60 per cent discount.
Derek Armstrong, business development manager for Cumbria Chamber of Commerce, said it would be a welcome addition to the street.
“The chamber is pleased to see a name like TK Maxx coming to Kendal to take over one of the empty units.
"Kendal high street has fared well through the recesson and it’s great to see investment like this.”
TK Maxx spokes-person Helen Gunter said: “We are excited to be opening a new store and bringing Kendal’s shoppers savings on great brands and labels."
She added that the new store would follow the usual TK Maxx ‘no-frills’ model where clothes were arranged by size and type.
