THE Westmorland Gazette has launched Grit Watch – a campaign urging YOU to tell us if your roads are being gritted properly.
After last year’s winter chaos, the Westmorland Gazette is aiming to put authorities on the spot and hold them accountable.
But we need you to be our eyes and ears.
The Westmorland Gazette’s website has a Grit Watch Section for the whole of the winter where we will publish readers’ comments and pictures.
Authorities have pledged to keep the motorways and A roads, as well as other key routes, clear.
Residential areas rely on grit bins, which bosses have said will be topped up throughout winter.
Therefore, we want you to highlight to us if things are not working.
This could be a main road that is treacherous or a grit bin left empty, leaving community roads like ice rinks.
The Westmorland Gazette will highlight cases with the authorities and seek to get an explanation or action.
So far the authorities have been praised for their work across the region, but we want to make sure it stays that way all winter.
