POLICE investigating a crash which killed two school children say there will be no criminal prosecution against anyone involved.
For the last six months specially trained officers from Cumbria Roads Policing Unit have been investigating the cause of the crash which claimed the lives of Kieran Goulding and Chloe Walker and former Allerdale Councillor Patrick Edgar Short.
Today they have confirmed that there will be no police prosecution of any person involved in the collision - which took place on the A66 at Braithwaite on 24th May - and the file has now been passed to HM Coroner for West Cumbria David Roberts who will hold an inquest in due course.
Families of those involved have been informed.
Inspector Richard Vernon of Cumbria Constabulary Road Policing Unit, who led the enquiry, said: "This was a devastating crash which tragically claimed three lives and shocked the local community.
"We have conducted a detailed and lengthy investigation on behalf of the coroner and can now confirm that there will be no police prosecution against any individual involved.
"I would like to thank all those who assisted us in this enquiry for their patience and support during the investigation process.”
