A RARE giant otter has just arrived in the Lakes – with a big job to do.
Carlos has been brought to the South Lakes Animal Park, at Dalton-in-Furness, from Germany as part of an international breeding programme.
There are only 51 giant otters in captivity in the world and the species is officially listed as endangered.
But the park hopes that Carlos and his new mate Tupi will soon start to alter the balance from their purpose-built enclosure with its own heated pool.
