CROWDS of Ambleside residents are expected to fill the streets tomorrow for the switch-on of the village's Christmas lights.
Police are set to hold back traffic and close car parks to make way for the busy Christmas parade.
From tomorrow morning areas of Ambleside will be partially blocked off to allow 300 children and adults to take part in the annual lantern procession, watched by thousands of spectators.
Church Walk will be coned off, with no parking allowed. Police also plan to stop traffic on the A591 and the village centre as the evening procession passes.
Walkers will begin at 4.15pm at St Mary’s Church and continue down Compston Road, through Market Place, Lake Road, Kelsick Road, King Street, and Church Street, before returning to Compston Road to finish at St Mary’s Church by 4.55pm.
The procession will officially switch on the village’s Christmas lights and will follow with a firework display at Rothay Park, between 5pm and 5.45pm.
