A drop-in event to allow residents to air their views on the future of Settle Town Hall is to take place on Tuesday.
The event, in the town hall, has been organised by Craven District Council, which owns the building. It is in a desperate state of disrepair and could cost up to £1 million to bring up to standard.
Residents will have the opportunity to share their ideas about the ownership and management of the building between 2pm and 8pm.
Possible options include placing the town hall in a trust to be either sold outright or leased for commercial and/or community use; Craven District Council continuing to own the building and leasing it to a commercial organisation for retail/ offices; or selling the town hall for commercial retail/ office purposes.
Details of the options will be available at the meeting. Anyone unable to attend can send their views to rwallbank@cravendc.gov.uk.
Views will be considered at a council meeting in December to help members decide the best option for the building.
Meanwhile, Settle Town Council has been asked by the district council if it would be willing to lease a strip of land to the west of the town hall in order to assist in the marketing of the property.
Town councillors were told Wetherspoons had looked at the building, but had said the fact the space surrounding it was not owned by the district council could present an issue.
Town councillors agreed to look at the request and bring it back to a later meeting.
