TV soccer pundit Mark Lawrenson, the former Liverpool FC and Republic of Ireland star, has offered himself as a golf partner in support of a South Lakeland charity’s Christmas auction.
The former Liverpool FC and Republic of Ireland star is donating his time to help Ambleside-based Brathay Trusts 2010 EBay Christmas Auction.
He will play the round of golf, with the winning bidder, and three guests, at Windermere Golf Club.
Lawrenson said: “I’m delighted to support the Brathay Trust. Their work with disadvantaged children and young people cannot be underestimated as it helps them to fulfil their potential.
“Brathay programmes increase confidence and self-esteem and help to develop life skills which, in turn, steers young people away from drug abuse and criminality.”
It is hoped that Lawrenson’s support will help raise the profile of the auction and will attract bids from Liverpool fans eager to buy a unique gift experience, for family or friends in the build up to the festive season.
In another football boost for the charity, Carlisle United FC is offering a fan and guest a chance to spend a day training with the team.
