THE head teacher of Old Hutton Primary School is celebrating his first year in the job with a glowing Ofsted report praising his ‘strong leadership’.
Huw Davis joined the school from Flookburgh Primary where he had been deputy head and said he was thrilled to receive such a positive report from inspectors.
“It’s only my first year as a head teacher so my first Ofsted report was always going to be a big deal,” he said. “I am really pleased they recognised that we’re about more than academic studies and that we put a lot of effort into extra curricular activities and taking learning outside the classroom.”
Inspectors visited the school in September and were judged overall to be ‘good’ and deemed it outstanding in the effectiveness of care, guidance and support, the pupils’ spiritual and cultural development and its promotion of healthy living.
Reporting inspector Mark Scott said: “The strong leadership of the head teacher is at the heart of the school’s success.
“He has established a shared vision for improvement in pupils’ academic and personal skills which is embedded in all apects of the school’s provision.”
