Cumbria Road Safety Partnership has launched a new website aimed at helping local drivers and visitors.
www.crsp.co.uk offers Cumbria’s road users a range of information, including live traffic data from the Highways Agency, as well as help and advice.
A new feature is mapped collisions data helping drivers identify the accident ‘black spots’ across the county.
The new site reflects particular issues that affect Cumbrians and features sub-sites aimed at younger drivers (www.freshdrivers.co.uk) and older motorists (www.maturemotorists.co.uk) Both sites are also accessible from the main site.
The website also features reader polls, message boards and competitions.
Councillor Tim Knowles, Cumbria County Council’s cabinet member for road safety, said: “I'm delighted with the site. Having a really topical and exciting website is essential to the development of our positive engagement with road users across the county.
"I expect it to play an increasingly important part in our work, not only in our road safety campaigning, but also as a vital point of contact with the community.
“The site doesn’t mean we’ll be abandoning our established methods of education and engagement, from the face-to-face work of our Road Safety Officers to the excellent Pass Plus + scheme aimed at our newest drivers, not to mention our wide range of media-based campaigns."
