WINDERMERE’S residents and businesses are being given the chance to have their say on plans to regenerate a tourist hot spot.
The Glebe, in Bowness-on-Windermere, is part of the Lake District National Park Authority Waterfront Programme, which aims to transform the area in a bid to boost tourism.
Over the next two months residents and businesses in the area can attend “drop-in” events or participate in an online survey to discuss what developments they want to see created.
National park policy planner Carissa Lough said: “Evidence already shows that regenerating Bowness Bay and The Glebe is fundamental to achieving a high quality world class visitor experience for all our visitors.
“Now we need the public to help us decide the size and shape of the proposed development area by giving us their views on where the boundary should be.”
People can talk to national park planners at Bowness Bay Tourist Information centre on Thursday November 25 between 4 and 7pm and Wednesday January 12 between 4 and 7pm.
Comments will be reported to the LDNPA in early spring 2011 with a plan of all the preferred options for development being made public next summer.
The online consultation survey is available at www.lakedistrict.gov.uk/wwconsultation
