FUNDRAISERS across Cumbria will show their spots to raise lots for the BBC’s annual Children in Need appeal on Friday.
A wide variety of wacky activities – from bean baths and talent shows to cake sales and charity sky diving – are being planned to raise money for the appeal, which has been helping disadvantaged children in the UK since 1980.
- BBC Radio Cumbria will be live from the Lakeland store in Windermere with presenters Ian Timms, Gordon Swindlehurst and Kevin Fernihough all taking part in a bake off. Pudsey will join the presenters throughout the day with a host of fun challenges.
- ASDA in Kendal will hold a teddy bears’ picnic and games marathon.
- In Ulverston the Emmanuel Christian Centre is hosting ECC’s Got Talent tomorrow evening, with a supper of hotdogs and beefburgers, from 6.45pm. lakes leisure Ulverston will also mark the day with a cake sale and Darren from the centre will row the equivalent of 42,000m. Activities start at 3pm.
Pudsey has already reared his spotted bandana in Kendal as he helped staff at Greggs in Stricklandgate sell cookies and other treats, while a charity quiz was held at the King’s Arms, Burton-in-Kendal, on Wednesday night.
The Lakeland store aims to raise more than £5,000 this year and staff have already completed the national three peaks challenge and a 29-mile walk around Cornwall. Tomorrow evening the store will become a call centre to receive donations for the cause.
